Leaving for Moosonee on the 22nd!

Well, anyway, to continue my update....
Christmas and New Years were fun but kind of hard too, being so far away from my family and friends. Fortunately though, I had a distraction. A big, frozen distraction wieghing from 30-35 pounds. You guessed it! I was in charge of cooking the turkey.
You see the way it works here is every week 2 people will take a week off from work and do all the cooking and cleaning for that week. Sound easy? You try and please 11 people on a budget!
Anyway I was paired up with a vegitarian so I was on my own.
To make a long (long, long, long!) story short, yes we did end up with a turkey, no it was not burnt and it was served at 9:00 pm. Preperation started at 8:30am so you do the math.
New Years we spent most of the day hanging out with the groups from Vernon and Revelstoke! Then we went glow-bowling and had a bit of a party at the house.
Well, anyway, I have been here for nearly three months. Working, exploring and meeting tons of new people. I totally am going to come back in the summer to visit!
But now the time has nearly come to move on. Today is my last day at the SPCA (Wah!) and on Monday I will be leaving Salmon Arm for Rotation Camp. On Tuesday, I'm off to Moosonee. (Think of me kindly, I depart at 5:00pm, 7:00 your time and won't arrive at my destination until noon the next day.) From Kelowna to Vancouver to Toronto to Timmens to a small marshmallow plane to Moosonee. I had chinese the other day and my fortune cookie told me to prepare for a big windfall. I hope that doesn't mean the plane!
I will be glad to get away from the mountains however (Sorry Steph) I just can't get used to the fact thats its dark by 4.
Well, its almost time for work (7:17 am) so I have to split.

Melissa

PS I forgot to mention the group dubbed me with a nickname! It is St. Saskatoon of Bunker, Patront Saint of the Jagoff! (Don't ask)

Your mom told me you were cooking the turkey. That's great! And you know, it is winter, and it alway's get's dark early, especially in the mountains. I suggest checking it out in the summer...Actually, I suggest a ROAD TRIP! You and me, traveling to the Beautiful Okanagan area! Penticton, OK Falls, Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton....
Anyway, I miss you lot's Commander, but I'm glad you are having a good time, and making lots of new friends.
